Incredibly popular as winter gifts, Amaryllis, also known as Hippeastrum, are spectacular flowering bulbs that are a real treat to grow, giving you stunning, exotic flowers in the middle of winter! As the flower stems begin to emerge from the centre of the leaves, excitement and anticipation grow as you imagine how tall it'll get, and how many flowers too. Amaryllis will often produce more than one flower stem, with each one carrying up to four huge, trumpet-shaped flowers and as its name suggests, the blooms of 'Red Velvet' are the most fabulous, luxurious crimson colour. Our indoor bulb kit makes a wonderful gift, or you could just treat yourself. It's always fun to grow one of your own and give another as a present and then compete for the tallest plant with the most flowers! Presented in an attractive gift box, it contains everything you need including a pot, compost and a large bulb. All you need to do is plant it around 8 weeks before you'd like it to flower, with the top third of the bulb above the compost, always keeping it moist. Your Amaryllis will grow up to 60 cm (2 ft) tall.
